Hi there, I am beginner in electronics and I do not know much about theory. I am only handy man that I can make it but need to know exactly what to do. And about this project I have a few questions. So who know answer, please help me.

1. It looks like the PIC18F2550 needs to be programmed. And the board has 6 pin port for programming device. What I have to buy (name of product or schematics to make one without needed to program other PIC) to have or create the programming device?

2. From picture on joyistick ports pins is it exactly like shown so for example 1 is forward and 6 is fire? Because I have joyisticks for clone of atari, so I am not sure if the pins are same. It is clone of atari 2600.

3. will it work with "Stella" emulator for example?

4. What file is for PIC programming? It is there http://www.waitingforfriday.com/index.p ... SB_Adaptor ? Or I have to find something else?

Thank you.

1. You will need a programmer for the PIC. The PICkit3 from Microchip is a good low cost USB programmer.

2. The project will work with any joystick that has an 'atari' pin out which most old non-analogue joysticks do.

3. The joystick appears as a standard USB joystick, so it will work with any windows/linux application that supports joysticks

4. You will need to download MPLAB and the Hi-Tech PICC18 compiler (both are available free-of-charge from Microchip). This will enable you to compile and then program the PIC.
